Terms of Service

Last updated: August 6, 2026

Welcome to RoamTally. By using the service you agree to these terms, which cover what RoamTally does, how trip links work, and what it isn't responsible for.

1. What RoamTally is

RoamTally is a tool for recording shared trip expenses and calculating how to settle up. It is a calculator and record-keeper only. It doesn't hold, transfer, or process money between you and anyone else, and it is not a bank, payment service, or financial advisor.

2. Trips and access

You can create a trip without an account. Each trip has a private link, and anyone with that link can view and edit the trip. You're responsible for who you share your links with. An optional password adds a layer of protection but is not a guarantee of security — keep your links private.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use RoamTally for anything unlawful or fraudulent.
  • Attempt to access trips you don't have the link to, or otherwise disrupt or abuse the service.
  • Upload content that infringes others' rights or that you don't have the right to share.

4. Accuracy of calculations

RoamTally does its best to compute balances and settle-up correctly from the information you enter. The numbers are only as accurate as the expenses you record, and it's up to you and your group to review them and agree on how to settle. RoamTally isn't responsible for disputes over who owes what.

5. Cost

RoamTally is free to use. There is nothing to buy, no subscription, and no payment details are ever collected. If paid features are added in future, they will be optional additions and the terms here will be updated before anything is charged.

6. Availability

RoamTally is kept running as reliably as possible, but the service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. Features may change, be suspended, or be discontinued, and inactive trips may be removed as described in the Privacy Policy. Keep your own copy of anything important — for example, by copying a settle-up summary.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RoamTally isn't liable for any indirect or consequential damages, or for amounts exchanged (or not exchanged) between members of a trip. Its total liability is limited to what you have paid to use it in the past twelve months — while the service is free, that is nothing.

8. Changes and contact

These terms may be updated from time to time; the current version always lives here with its date. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. Questions? Email hello@roamtally.com.
